On November 26, the 2025 Shanghai International Auto Parts, Maintenance, Inspection, Diagnosis Equipment and Service Supplies Exhibition (Automechanika Shanghai), co-organized by China National Machinery Industry International Co., Ltd. (SINOMACHINT) and Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Messe Frankfurt), commenced at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Zhang Li, Chairperson of SINOMACHINT, and Sun Runhai, General Manager of SINOMACHINT, were present at the event and engaged in a series of related activities.
This year’s exhibition achieved unprecedented milestones across multiple dimensions. The exhibition area expanded by 9% to a total of 383,000 square meters, utilizing all 15 halls of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for the first time. The number of participating enterprises reached 7,465, representing 44 countries and regions, which corresponds to a 10% increase in exhibitors compared to the previous year. 15 national and regional pavilions were featured collectively, alongside prominent regional pavilions from major domestic automotive industry hubs. Together, these elements constituted a comprehensive global professional service platform that integrated market promotion, trade facilitation, information exchange, and industry education, thereby underscoring the global automotive sector’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
Key Sectors Achieved Quality and Scale Growth, Highlighting Trends in Industry Innovation
Automechanika Shanghai opened on a record-breaking scale, not only expanding the exhibition space but also achieving substantial advancements in innovation and exhibitor diversity. The event attracted leading vehicle manufacturers such as GAC Aion, Li Auto, Chery Holding, Qingling Motors, and Tesla, alongside numerous key enterprises spanning the automotive supply chain. These participants showcased a wide array of product technologies and solutions encompassing both traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and new energy vehicles, thereby presenting a comprehensive ecosystem that spans research and development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales services.
Capitalizing on China’s technological capabilities and market potential in new energy and intelligent connectivity, the relevant sectors at this year’s exhibition expanded by approximately 50%. Key focus areas included core electrification systems, intelligent driving and cockpit technologies, charging infrastructure, smart chassis, vehicle thermal management, powertrain control, intelligent robotics, and low-altitude aircraft. Nearly 30 domestic and international brands, including both first-time exhibitors and established companies, presented state-of-the-art technological achievements in semiconductor chips, intelligent driving assistance systems, smart chassis, powertrain systems, and components. Furthermore, this segment featured four representative regional pavilions from Changzhou, Hubei, Longquan, and Tianjin, which collectively highlighted the innovative capabilities and core competitive advantages of these automotive industry clusters.
Additional notable exhibition segments encompass parts and components, electronic and electrical systems, diagnostics and repair/bodywork and painting, accessories and modifications, as well as tires and wheels, each demonstrating differing levels of growth. Specifically, the parts and components segment recorded an approximate growth of 10%, whereas the tires and wheels segment exhibited a substantial increase of up to 50%.
The internationalization of the exhibition has progressed significantly, as evidenced by a year-on-year increase of approximately 25% in pre-registered visitors, representing nearly 160 countries and regions globally. Furthermore, a total of 261 domestic and international buyer delegations, encompassing over 24,000 professional buyers from 50 countries and regions, have been invited to participate in this year’s event. Both the overall scale and the level of international engagement have reached unprecedented levels. Importantly, several countries are participating with delegations for the first time, thereby further enhancing Automechanika Shanghai’s status as a prominent global hub within the automotive industry.
Concurrent Events of Unprecedented Scale Fostered Multi-Dimensional Industrial Exchange System
The concurrent events at this year’s Automechanika Shanghai have undergone a comprehensive enhancement, creating an open and multidimensional platform for industry exchange through the integration of forward-looking themes, cross-sector dialogues, and technical seminars. Throughout the exhibition, a total of 94 forums and events are scheduled, addressing topics such as technological innovation, market trends, talent development, and cross-industry integration. These initiatives aim to provide enterprises with valuable industry insights, resource networking opportunities, and avenues for collaboration.
The flagship event, the 2025 Automechanika Shanghai CEO Summit for the International Development of the Automotive Industry, inaugurated the series of activities. This summit concentrated on global automotive industry trends, market dynamics, and prospective technological trajectories, thereby fostering comprehensive industry discourse during the exhibition. A newly introduced technical seminar series examined seven critical themes: thermal management for new energy vehicles, driver assistance systems, electric drive systems, intelligent chassis, novel materials, and tire technology, underscoring the advancement of essential technological pathways. In response to the industry’s pressing demand for talent and innovation ecosystems, the exhibition incorporated a “Talent Series” featuring industry talent trend reports, university technology achievement presentations, and executive networking sessions designed to support the development of sustainable talent frameworks. Furthermore, supply-demand matching events focused on intelligent connectivity and new energy vehicles were organized to strengthen collaboration between automakers and suppliers, thereby broadening opportunities for technological innovation, joint standard development, and international market expansion.
Enhancing Collaboration to Transform and Advance Automotive Sector
The event introduced several key themed exhibition zones for the first time. The “Technology·Innovation·Trends” concept zone hosted over 30 specialized lectures that highlighted technological directions and market forecasts. The “Startup Zone” offered a platform for innovative enterprises to exhibit their products, establish connections, and foster incubation. Meanwhile, the “Green Maintenance Zone” facilitated product demonstrations, skills training, and interactive exchanges via hands-on workshops, thereby promoting the adoption of environmentally sustainable maintenance practices within the industry. The “Modification × Technology Zone” concentrated on automotive personalization and emerging consumer cultures, presenting new trends in customized modifications through seminars and interactive experiences. On-site activities, such as tire-changing competitions and simulated racing, contributed to an immersive environment. Additionally, the event debuted the #AMS mascot AutoHu, a panda-themed character embodying roles such as mechanic and race driver, which infused the exhibition with dynamic emotional expression and cultural symbolism.
Now in its third year, the AMS Live Broadcast, under the theme “Chain-Driven Industry, Trend Insights,” disseminates exhibition highlights, expert viewpoints, and industry developments across multiple platforms, thereby enabling remote audiences to access real-time updates of the event.
At this critical juncture, marking the conclusion of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the initiation of the 15th, Automechanika Shanghai 2025 convened with enhanced openness and strategic foresight amid significant global transformations in the automotive sector. By assembling innovative forces spanning the entire industrial chain, the event further reinforced its status as a vital industry barometer. This exhibition emphasized comprehensive new energy solutions and supply chain enhancements, facilitating the practical application of emerging technologies through systematic presentations. It accelerated collaboration across the industrial chain and promoted the development of an intelligent automotive ecosystem. Beyond functioning as a central platform for product and technology launches, the exhibition contributed to the integration of Chinese automotive enterprises into global operations and supported the advancement of the global automotive industry’s green and intelligent transformation through business cooperation, information exchange, and industrial education.
